This concertino was commissioned by the Japanese percussionist Kazuko Ogawa as an addition to Satoshi Yagisawa’s concert series (trumpet, trombone, marimba, saxophone, and clarinet with wind orchestra). The world premiere was performed by the Kasukabe Kyoei Junior and Senior High School Wind Orchestra, together with guest percussionist Kazuko Ogawa. The ensemble was led by Jotaro Tsuga, who was the conductor of the orchestra in 2009. The effective use of solo percussion and the elegant orchestration have been widely praised since the premiere. Satoshi Yagisawa’s style has always been quite theatrical, but in this work he uses a new idiom. Grade 5 for the soloist
