Medeli MZ520 electronic drum kit – mesh snare and 316 sounds

Compact electronic drum kit for practice and recording

The Medeli MZ520 is a complete electronic drum kit for beginner and recreational drummers. The compact setup includes a dual-zone mesh-head snare, three tom pads, a bass drum pad, hi-hat, crash, ride, and two additional mini pads. This provides the kit with surprisingly extensive playing possibilities without taking up much space.

Dual-zone snare with mesh-head

The 8-inch snare drum is equipped with a tunable mesh head and two separate playing zones. The mesh head offers a natural rebound and produces less contact noise than a traditional rubber pad. Different sounds can be triggered via the head and the rim.

The three 7.5-inch tom pads are velocity-sensitive and respond to the force of your playing. In addition, the set features two compact pads to which extra percussion or effect sounds can be assigned.

Crash and ride with choke function

The MZ520 comes with a 10-inch crash and 10-inch ride. Both cymbals support a choke function, allowing you to mute the sound with your hand after striking. The 10-inch hi-hat is controlled by a continuously responding hi-hat pedal.

The 6-inch bass drum pad is played with a regular bass drum pedal and offers a more realistic playing feel than a simple foot switch.

316 drum and hi-hat sounds

The drum computer contains 308 drum and percussion sounds plus eight separate hi-hat sounds. You can start immediately with 25 preset drum kits or create up to five custom kits. Reverb gives the selected sounds extra space and depth.

The maximum polyphony of 64 voices ensures that fast fills and simultaneous strikes are rendered well.

Coach functions and built-in songs

With 80 built-in songs, you can practice with various rhythms and music styles. The coach functions Quiet Count, Beat Check, and Change Up help improve timing, accuracy, and tempo stability. There is space to record up to five custom performances as MIDI songs.

The metronome offers adjustable time signatures, intervals, click sounds, and volume levels. The tempo can be set from 30 to 280 BPM.

Connect to computer and audio equipment

Via USB-B MIDI, you can connect the MZ520 to a computer to make MIDI recordings or control virtual drum software. A traditional MIDI output is also available. Via the aux input, you can play along with music from a suitable external audio source.

For silent practice, the module has a headphone jack. The separate left and right outputs allow connection to a drum amplifier, mixer, or audio interface.
