Originally, Schubert's Ave Maria was called Ellens dritter Gesang and was the sixth song from the song cycle Fräulein vom See. Only later was it sung with the text of the Latin poem Ave Maria. And it was precisely in that version that it became much more famous than the original. In this beautiful arrangement by Robert van Beringen, the trumpet section or a trumpet soloist can take on the melody.
