Franz Schubert: The Trout Fantasy
In 1817, the Austrian composer Franz Schubert wrote the well-known song Die Forelle (opus 32). He reused it in 1819 for the fourth movement of his famous Trout Quintet, the title of which is based on the song. Robert van Beringen used the lively theme for The Trout Fantasy, a piece for variable wind ensemble.
In addition to the five-part instrumentation, optional percussion parts have also been added. The set comes with C, Bb, and Eb parts, so the work can be played in all kinds of combinations.
