Franz Schubert: The Trout Fantasy (Brass Quintet)
In 1817, the Austrian composer Franz Schubert wrote the well-known song Die Forelle (Opus 32). He reused it in 1819 for the fourth movement of his famous Trout Quintet, whose title is based on the song. Robert van Beringen used the lively theme for The Trout Fantasy, a piece for a five-part brass ensemble.
The instrumentation is such that the work can be performed in various combinations of instruments: Bb Trumpet 1 and 2, F-Horn (also for Eb-Horn), Trombone (also for Euphonium) and Tuba (also for Trombone, Euphonium or Eb-Bass).
