Spectrum (which was dedicated to the fanfare band St. Cecilia from Helden-Dorp on the occasion of its ninetieth anniversary) encompasses a series of seamlessly transitioning variations based on melodic and rhythmic motifs from the Helden folk song. The song does not appear in its entirety but formed the basis for the spectrum of intervals used, (camouflaged) melodic lines, and harmonic structures in this composition.
