The Sire Marcus Miller V7 Vintage Ash New Gen has a swamp ash body, the wood that gave classic 70s jazz basses their typical sound: a tight, fast low end with plenty of string definition and a slightly sharp high end that cuts through a band mix well. The natural finish fully displays the open grain of the ash wood.

Vintage 7.25-inch radius with narrow frets

The neck follows the vintage recipe: a 7.25-inch fingerboard radius and narrow 2.0 mm frets, for a total of 20 frets. This provides the round, old-fashioned playing feel many bassists seek. The Edgeless™ rounded fingerboard edges and the New Gen C-profile make the neck much more comfortable than the original.

Marcus Vintage-J pickups with Heritage-3 preamp

The Marcus Vintage-J Revolution pickups are paired with the simplified Marcus Heritage-3 preamp, which lacks a separate midrange frequency control. This keeps the controls clear and concise: volume/tone, blender, treble/mid, and bass. The bass control also doubles as the active/passive switch — pull it out and the bass operates completely passively.
