Georges Bizet studied composition at the Conservatoire de Paris. He was a pupil of Gounod, among others. In 1857, he won the prestigious Prix de Rome, after which he lived in Rome for several years. After returning to Paris, he began to build his career. Georges Bizet wrote L'Arlésienne in 1872 for Alphonse Daudet's play of the same name. With this arrangement, Lorenzo Bocci makes Farandole - the last movement from the second suite - accessible to a four-part variable wind ensemble.
