Hear, Read & Play – the most complete method for wind instruments – has been released for thirteen different instruments in three volumes suitable for both group and individual lessons. This successful method is compiled according to contemporary standards and requirements of music education and the associated examinations. Each book is packed with ear training exercises, games, puzzles, tips, and interesting facts. The accompanying CDs provide extra fun.

In all three volumes, Dr. Checkup is the mischievous guide who always accompanies the students with useful information and tips. In Volume 3, he is joined by a certain Theodor Tonleiter.

Volume 1 covers note values up to eighths in a limited range, as well as a number of accidentals. In addition, attention is paid to the most important auxiliary fingerings. The history of the instrument is described on a special page with beautiful illustrations.

Volume 2 features – in addition to a rhythmic expansion to sixteenth notes and the introduction to the 6/8 time signature – a chromatic tonal expansion. Furthermore, each book highlights playing techniques and exercises tailored to the specific instrument. A page with new information about the instrument is another valuable extra.

In Volume 3, playing numerous pieces takes precedence, but new scales and intervals are also covered, as well as Theodor Tonleiter's explanation of major and minor keys. Students learn to improvise over a chord progression. Furthermore, Volume 3 contains rhythmic development to the most common and used combinations of note values. Interesting facts about the construction of the instrument are discussed on a special page.
