Part 2 features – in addition to a rhythmic expansion to sixteenth notes and the introduction to the 6/8 time signature – a chromatic tonal expansion. Furthermore, each book highlights playing techniques and exercises tailored to the specific instrument. A page with new information about the instrument is another valuable extra.

In Part 3, playing numerous pieces takes precedence, but new scales and intervals are also covered, as is Theodor Tonleiter's explanation of major and minor keys. Students learn to improvise over a chord progression. Furthermore, Part 3 includes rhythmic development up to the most common and used combinations of note values.
