I Say A Little Prayer

This bittersweet song from 1967 is a true classic, partly because it was performed by two soul queens, Dionne Warwick and later Aretha Franklin. The theme was very topical at the time: a woman, while going about her daily chores, worries about her husband fighting in the Vietnam War. Top arranger Peter Kleine Schaars created a tasteful and carefully orchestrated version of it. His arrangement remains true to the original color and feel of the song, and at grade 3, it is still easily playable by most concert bands.
