Jacob de Haan: Idolater!

Idolaat! (Idolized!) was specially written for secondary school children (aged twelve to approximately sixteen). The story revolves around the transience of fame. Against the appealing backdrop of a talent show (freely adapted from X-factor, Idols, and The Voice of Holland), a story unfolds in about an hour, making it clear that 'fame' is no guarantee of happiness. Idolaat! is a popsical - a musical (theatre) production where the story is primarily told through pop songs. There is relatively little spoken word or dialogue between the songs. This is the first production to be exploited within the POPSICAL concept. The songs can be performed with the standard pop combo, consisting of drums, bass guitar, guitar, and piano, but a performance with an orchestra is also possible. An accompanying CD is included for a performance without the aforementioned options.
