Jacob de Haan: Lorraine (Concert Band). This moving symphonic poem is about Lorraine, a region in eastern France. The musical rendition begins in the time of the Holy Roman Empire. A time when the country was ravaged by many wars. A time when the country belonged now to Germany, then to France. However, there are also joyful elements: folk music from Lorraine and also a conciliatory ending that, with allusions to the national anthem, highlights the tri-border region of France, Germany and Luxembourg.
