Sbandiamo! is a joyous and swinging work. The title refers to the wind music event of the same name in the medieval town of Gubbio in Umbria (Italy). There, the premiere was performed on the Piazza Grande by a wind orchestra consisting of approximately 250 musicians, led by the composer. Every year, various orchestras from all over Italy participate in this event. A stately introduction with festive percussion is followed by a catchy theme in alternating pop and march rhythms. Then the opening theme returns as a marcia cantabile, and the work concludes in an engaging and grand manner.
