Jacob de Haan: Town of the Seven Hills (Harmony). This four-movement suite tells the story of the beautiful French town of Tulle, which, like Rome and Lisbon, is built on seven hills. The composer describes the history of Tulle, highlighting important events such as the massacre in World War II, the fine mesh fabric tulle, which is named after the town, and an annual festive fair. Because Tulle is also known for the accordions manufactured there, the composer has written an ad libitum accordion part for this work. A charming and stylish concert or competition piece!
