A fortieth anniversary? That's an emerald anniversary! And that's how the title for Emerald Jubilee came about, referring to Wil van der Beek's fortieth anniversary as conductor of the German music association Haaren. Jan de Haan composed this colourful march. As a former publisher of Wil van der Beek's classical transcriptions, Jan de Haan can look back on many years of successful collaboration with this composer. The unusual key of the main theme in minor and the melodic middle section in major provide a beautiful contrast; the relatively slow theme gives the march its grand yet restrained character.
