Jan de Haan: Sbandiamo!
Sbandiamo! is both a joyful and swinging piece. The title refers to the wind music event of the same name in the medieval town of Gubbio in Umbria (Italy). The premiere took place on the Piazza Grande with a wind orchestra consisting of approximately 250 musicians, led by the composer. Every year, various orchestras from all over Italy participate in this event. A stately introduction with festive percussion is followed by a catchy theme in alternating pop and march rhythms.
