Plomp: Big Band Highlights for Flute
Playing in a big band is a fantastic experience. In the swinging pieces in this book, the student plays the lead role, accompanied by a real big band on the CD. Almost all pieces are newly written in the style of the great big bands, but two well-known hits also make an appearance: Barry Manilow's sultry Copacabana and Stevie Wonder's brilliant You Are the Sunshine of My Life. On the CD, the features are recorded on different instruments: a specific big band instrument is central to each track. Of course, the solo does not have to be played exactly as written; improvisation on the notated chords is possible.
