Playing in a big band is a fantastic experience. In the swinging pieces in this book, the student takes center stage, accompanied by a real big band on the CD. Almost all pieces are newly written in the style of the great big bands, but two well-known hits also make an appearance: the sultry Copacabana by Barry Manilow and the magnificent You Are the Sunshine of My Life by Stevie Wonder. On the CD, the features are played on different instruments: each track focuses on a specific big band instrument. Of course, the solo does not have to be played exactly as recorded; improvisation on the noted chords is possible.
