The Power of Pop is written in the style of pop music frequently heard on radio and television. With a few years of playing experience, the student can play the first pieces without much difficulty. This book is excellent to use alongside a primary teaching method. Various keys are used and the rhythms are simple. If the student still has some difficulty with the rhythm, they can use the ‘guide-track’. This is a separate track on the CD, where the melody is played in a fairly ‘dry’ way: an excellent tool for the student to eventually be able to play the pieces in a swinging style themselves.
