Legend

Henryk Wieniawski, who was born in 1835 in Lublin, Poland, was a violin prodigy. When he was eight years old, he was already admitted to the Paris Conservatory, and at the age of twelve, he completed his studies with flying colors. As a renowned violin virtuoso, he led a nomadic life. He was also successful as a composer of brilliant violin music, although the scope of his oeuvre remained rather limited. When he was 25 years old, Wieniawski wrote his Légende for violin and orchestra. In this arrangement for wind band, the solo role is assigned to the clarinet. The soloist can fully showcase his or her technical skills and musicality.
