In this beautiful composition, melodic fragments from the hymn Beecher have been transformed into a series of variations, with the melody presented in various moods, from calm and gentle to joyful and triumphant towards the end. Beecher Variations, written as the test piece for the 2015 Dutch National Brass Band Championships, features challenging solo parts for cornet, soprano cornet, flugelhorn, and euphonium.
