Almost no other song in pop history has been covered in as many different versions as Yesterday, the Beatles classic from 1965. The original features string quartet accompaniment that forms the perfect backing for Paul McCartney's vocals and guitar playing. From that premise, it's a small step to an arrangement of the song for string quartet alone.
