Trumpets of Jericho is based on the biblical story of Jericho. For six days, armed men and priests paraded around the city with the Ark, followed by the people of Israel, while the priests blew their shofars. On the seventh day, the procession marched around the city seven times – and when the priests blew their horns for the seventh time, the city walls collapsed. This arrangement begins with a small drum, suggesting a procession approaching from a distance. More and more instruments join in. The low brass, the middle section, and the percussion represent the Israelites. The trumpets represent the armed men and the priests with their shofars.
